Memories Made Running Track
Updated: Mar 24
Track season is zooming toward the Matadors. This season will be one to remember with many practices, meets and students who are going all-in trying to secure a spot in the state relays.
“All in all, I'm very proud of our achievements. We do countless hours of baton handoffs, and a lot of running,” junior Tristan Moreno said. “The district meet at Kerrville Tivy was one of my favorite meets last year, that’s when Seguin got the reputation that we shouldn’t be messed with, so I think it'll be a good one this year.”
The Matadors spend a tremendous amount of time preparing for their meets to ensure that they perform their very best. While doing this, they still are sure to leave time for bonding and making memories.
“We have track meets every Thursday and in order to prepare for those events we have practice every day after school to work and improve our conditioning,” senior Brianna Steans said. “Even though most of the time we are working extremely hard, we still find a way to have fun and make many memorable moments. One of my favorite moments last year was running the Matador Relays and getting first in my races and I hope I can achieve something like that this year.”
Although they had an amazing season last year, they know that they can do many things to help improve for this year.
“There are many things I would like to work on for this upcoming season,” Steans said. “For this next season, I hope to significantly improve my times and maybe even get scouted. And for the team altogether I hope that we all place as high as we’d like and reach our goals we’ve set for ourselves.’’
For their upcoming season, they would appreciate it if their community members could come support and check them out, their meets are every Thursday evening. They also encourage anyone interested in track to join. There is always something for everyone and they can help work on it.
