Baseball Season Comes to a Close

The baseball season is coming to an end, and with it, the intense competition between the various teams throughout the area. This year, the baseball team has gone up against the likes of Dripping Springs, Boerne-Champion, and Navarro High School.
The players spent countless hours getting ready for their season by prepping for any possible challenges that could arise within each game. The competition was intense and difficult, but the boys prepared for the potential trials and scenarios that they might face.
“We have done a lot of batting practice,” junior Hayden Haas said. “We also do a lot of broken down individual work at our positions in practice after school. Near the end of practice we come together as a team and go through game-like situations. Our coaches do a great job preparing us.”
The baseball team has been practicing for quite sometime, and so far they have been resilient and steadfast in the face of each challenge and competition. The players each push themselves in their individual positions, and despite some losses, give it their all every single day.
“This season has been full of ups and downs,” Assistant Coach Austin Randle said. ”We started with a tough non-district schedule as well as a challenging lineup of tournaments. All of those games prepared us greatly for the district, as our district is loaded with talented teams. We've been competitive in every single game and that has been the biggest improvement from last year.”
The passionate players push each other in every game, and this drive will put them in a better rank in the district than they were last year. The team hopes to improve even more next year and possibly make it on to playoffs, but for this year it unfortunately is not a possibility.
“Our team and coaches expected us to make playoffs this year,” Haas said. “We have our bar set high. It is very achievable we just have to take it one game at a time and one win at a time.”
The season wasn’t easy, but the team played better this season than they have the past few years. With next year’s season on the horizon, the team keeps in mind that they are just a work in progress and they will continually get better each year.
