A War to End All Wars

Avengers fans, assemble!
The newest upcoming movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be the largest and most influential film to date, and will have a massive impact on the future of the comic book combatants. Avengers Infinity War will place the beloved heroes against the biggest threat they’ve had to face. The threat is, of course, Thanos, the leader of the black order, and one of the most powerful beings in the universe, and he’ll be after the infinity stones located on Earth, pushing each of The Avengers, and all of their fans, to the limit.
The Infinity Stones are the most powerful artifacts in the Marvel Universe, and are the main reason for the arrival of Thanos, as Earth is the home to at least two of the six. One of the two gems on Earth is the Mind Stone which is now found within the head of Vision, one of the newer Avengers, and one of the most powerful assets to Earth’s defense. The other stone is the Time Stone which can be found in the Eye of Agamotto, the ancient amulet worn by Doctor Strange. Thanos appears to be in possession of two Infinity Stones in the trailers, which looks to be the Power Stone and the Space Stone. The trailers shows that Thanos is working to bring order to the universe by completely wiping out half of the universe using these stones.
After ten years worth of movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are bound to be tons of characters in such a high stakes movie, but strangely some have not been seen in the trailers, like Ant Man or Hawkeye. The characters who have been seen in the recent trailers are the original Avengers like Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, and Hulk. It also includes new Avengers, such as Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Vision, and Spider-Man. The movie will also have a roster of intergalactic characters, namely the Guardians of the Galaxy which include Star Lord, Drax, Nebula, Gamora, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, and Mantis. The new film also will introduce villains in the form of Thanos and his Black Order. Members of the order, that have been seen in the trailers, include Ebony Maw, Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, and the Black Dwarf (Cull Obsidian).
There have been ten years of previous films setting up the locations of each of the Infinity Stones, and the status of our heroes. ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy’ helped by putting the Power Stone in the possession of the Nova Corps at the end of the first film. ‘Thor: The Dark World’ showed us that the Reality Stone (Aether) is being kept by the collector on Knowhere, and the ending of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ showed us that the Space Stone (The Tesseract) is now being held by Loki on Thor’s spaceship. ‘Doctor Strange’ ended with the Time Stone being placed in the grand hall, and ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ had the Mind Stone put into Vision.
The trailers have shown many interesting things to the audience, and theories are already in the process of predicting the movie. With so much on the table in this movie, a death of one of our beloved heroes is a very possible problem, and speculation on who might die. Strong candidates for being killed include the two holders of the Infinity Stones, like Vision and Doctor Strange, and other completely human heroes like Black Widow, Falcon, and Hawkeye. Leaks from the cast on the topic of the next few Avengers movies has audiences thinking that the original idea for Avengers 4 would be the Infinity Gauntlet, but this was changed in order to prevent spoilers for Infinity War. A name like Infinity Gauntlet would suggest that by the end of Infinity War Thanos will be in possession of the Infinity Stones he needs in order to complete the gauntlet, meaning all six of the gems have fallen into his grasp.
Infinity War will be one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and will be a must-see for anyone interested in hero movies. It will be an action packed blockbuster, with emotional and intense moments to keep everyone entertained in its absolutely epic story, and all fans have to do now is wait for its close release in April. The awesome trailers and interesting theories have definitely created some intense hype for the upcoming film, but with Marvel’s track history of amazing movies there is no doubt that this will be any different.
